AusRFS (NSW) provides rat and mouse owners an opportunity to get together with regular shows
held on the first Saturday of each month at a church hall in Ermington. All rats and mice are welcome at our shows
with pet and novelty classes available for animals that do not fit a show
standard.
AusRFS (NSW) held its inaugural Meeting in March 2002, as and as well as holding shows it will strive to participate in
displays, expos and open days. This is all done to promote and educate the public in the keeping, care and welfare of
Fancy Rats and Mice.
The objectives of the Society are
- to promote and encourage the responsible breeding of Fancy Rats and Mice
- to promote the holding of exhibitions and shows and conduct exhibitions and shows
- to care for rats and mice for the term of their natural life
- to foster, promote and protect the interests of exhibitors of Fancy Rats and Mice at exhibitions and shows
- to educate and encourage members, breeders and judges to abide by the requirements and standards approved by the Club for the conduct of exhibitions and shows
- to promote good fellowship and sportsmanship amongst members and those participating in or attending at exhibitions and shows
- to hold functions and lectures relating to Fancy Rats and Mice and to the objects of the Club in general
- to make awards and donate prizes for competition at exhibitions and shows and for the competition by breeders and exhibitors of Fancy Rats and Mice
- to foster relations with other Clubs and bodies having similar aims
- to promote and assist and to make contributions to veterinary research and rescue organisations
AusRFS (NSW) seeks to encourage people who own rats and mice to house, and in particular, breed them responsibly. We wish to
avoid the sorts of problems which have occurred with some other animals when they are over-bred, allowed to become feral, or
bred for specific traits to the animals' detriment.
